Why is a point flagged as un-cited?

A legal reference with no citation, or one that cites a source we do not recognise, is flagged. Cite it or acknowledge it before you export.

Updated 29 Sept 2026

Why it happens

Every legal reference in a reply must carry a citation before it is sent. When one does not, the editor shows a red Un-cited references banner with the count.

The red Un-cited references banner above the editor, with its Review button, highlighted.
The banner shows how many references still need a citation. Choose Review to open them.
  • Legal reference with no citation: the point names a law or case but has no source.
  • Citation to an unrecognised source: the point cites something that is not in our checked sources.

How to clear it

  1. Step 1: Choose Review on the banner. The Un-cited references panel lists each flag.
  2. Step 2: Use Jump to to see the point in the draft. Fix it, or remove it.
  3. Step 3: Or choose Acknowledge on each flag, with an optional reason. Acknowledge all clears every flag at once.

Download stays off until every flag is acknowledged.
