What should I type in the draft box?

Describe the matter in your own words: what the notice says, which form and period, the amount in dispute and the position you want to take. More context gives a better draft.

Updated 29 Sept 2026

Where the box is

In Drafting, choose Type the facts of the matter. The box is called Facts of the matter. If you uploaded a notice instead, the same kind of note goes in Additional details on the Details step, and it is optional there.

The Facts of the matter box in the draft window, highlighted.
The Facts of the matter box.

What to include

  • The form and what it alleges, for example a DRC-01 alleging excess input tax credit.
  • The financial year or tax period and the amount involved.
  • What actually happened, in plain words.
  • The position you want the reply to take.

It does not have to be a notice. You can describe an opinion, an audit or bank document, or anything else you need drafted.
