Research
Asking questions, reading answers and opening sources.
- How do I ask a research question?Open Research, type your question in What are you researching? and choose Search case law. Answers are built only from sources we can cite.
- How do I read a research answer? The short answer comes first. Below it are the details, tables, steps and timelines, each point with a numbered source you can open.
- How do I attach a PDF to a research question?Choose Attach PDFs under the question box, then Upload new or Choose from Documents. A question takes up to five PDFs of up to 25 MB each.
- How do I open a source?Click the numbered source after a point, or a tile in the Sources strip. Cases open in a reader inside Charter AI; official pages open in a new tab.
- Can I research from inside a draft?Yes. The AI Legal Research tab on the right of the editor takes a question, suggests research for the draft and lists the sources the draft already uses.
