Busy shows 'API access is not available' when connecting to the GST portal: what to do?

Busy raises this error when API access is not enabled for your GSTIN on the GST portal. Log in to the GST portal, open View Profile, choose Manage API Access, enable it for 30 days, save, and then retry the download from Busy.

Steps

These are the steps in Busy's own GST reconciliation FAQ. API access on the portal is time-limited, so the same error can return after the period you chose ends.

  1. Log in to the GST portal with the GSTIN you are downloading data for.
  2. Click the View Profile option.
  3. Select Manage API Access.
  4. Enable API access for 30 days and save.
  5. Go back to Busy and run the GSTR download again from Transactions > GST Misc Utilities.

If the error comes back

Check that the GST portal username saved in Busy under GST/VAT is the one linked to this GSTIN, and that the OTP sent to the registered mobile number is entered before it expires. Busy's FAQ lists the username as a common cause of failed downloads.

How Charter AI does this

Charter AI does not log in to the GST portal on your behalf, so there is no API access step. You upload the GSTR-2B JSON or Excel file you downloaded from the portal, plus the purchase register exported from Busy, and the reconciliation runs on those two files.

FAQs

How long does API access stay on?

In Busy's FAQ you enable it for 30 days when you save the setting, so it needs to be switched on again after that period.

Does this error mean my GST registration has a problem?

No. It only means the portal has not been told to allow outside software to fetch data for your GSTIN.
